River Bend Business Center and Four S Industrial Park are working examples of environmental stewardship. During the construction process of the Industrial Park in Phase I, the rock base used for road construction was harvested from the landfill operation of Allied Waste. Arrangements have been made to continue the use of this landfill by-product as project development continues.
Sand and clay base materials for building pads and road construction are obtained from on-site locations. The crushed concrete used to finish the parking & storage yard at several River Bend construction locations was salvaged from area demolition projects. We are working with other sources to utilize similar materials that would otherwise be wasted or disposed as landfill.
One of the more ambitious sections of the River Bend project involves the setting aside of substantial acreage as a Wildlife Preservation Area. While this is being done as mitigation certain areas of floodplain, it will allow for maximizing land use and still preserving natural beauty and game producing areas for future generations.
Contracts are also being negotiated for the use of methane gas produced from landfill operations as a future energy source. Future plans call for water feature development as a part of recycling operations. Building standards encourage practical aesthetics to enhance both workplace and area appeal without being excessively restrictive.
